Improving the quality of hospital facilities and services and to accommodate demand in the region, Queensland Health engaged the FKG Group to undertake fit-out to the Level 3 floor of the Rockhampton Hospital. This upgrade formed a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The hospital remained fully operational during construction and the FKG Group ensured minimal disruption was caused to the live environment. Strict adherence to hospital regulations and medical specifications was a project priority particularly as the ICU department houses patients who are highly susceptible to infection and disturbance.
Comprehensive and detailed management plans were implemented to ensure compliance in areas such as ICT infrastructure and service installation, Body and Cardiac Protection requirements, BCA Level 4 requirements, infectious control management and general health and safety codes and standards.
