The FKG Group was engaged by the Department of Education, in partnership with Ridgemill Project Management and PDT Architects, for the construction of a new Performing Arts Centre, associated facilities and refurbishments at the Mackay Northern Beaches State High School. Works also included associated car parking, landscaping, covered link structures, external multi-purpose courts, and alterations and refurbishments to existing dance and drama classrooms.
The multi-storey, state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre features a contemporary design with high level finishes, fittings and fixtures, including special acoustic treatments in the hall area.
Externally, the building features an aesthetically pleasing mix of cladding, tiles, reconstituted concrete and angled structural beams. Internally, unique wallpaper, contemporary materials and custom crafted ceilings further enhance its state-of-the-art ambiance, while the performance area floor was specifically fashioned to help cushion the joints of developing children when dancing and performing.
