BP Townsville Truck Stop

The FKG Group was engaged by BP Australia to complete demolition and refurbishment works at the BP Townsville Truck Stop, which was damaged by destructive flooding in early 2019.

The design and construct project involved the installation of new internal finishes and linings, replacement of the commercial kitchen, HVAC system decontamination and upgrades, and construction of new amenities, including trucker’s facilities, dining, lounge, back of house area, and retail shop.

External works included upgrades to the control building soffit, replacement of the main information display, and landscaping around the control building. Working in an operational environment, the team were required to set up temporary facilities and complete works in a staged manner to ensure the business activities could continue safely.

Engaging local subcontractors to provide materials and services proved difficult, as works were completed during a peak period of flood repair works in the region. Despite this, the team were able to overcome any potential supply issues by working with trusted contacts Australia wide.
