The FKG Group has expanded to Rockhampton, recently opening an office in the “Beef City” as part of the company’s growth.
Rocky local and FKG Group’s Project Manager – Rockhampton, Richard Ash, says it is just the beginning for FKG in a region enjoying a new lease of life.
“We have a long-term vision for our presence in the area, targeting local work and filling a gap between our bases in Brisbane and Mackay.”
FKG Group has already hit the ground running, currently working on the $140 million Shoalwater Bay Training Area Remediation Project for Defence as well as tendering for other significant local projects.
“The Shoalwater Bay works will sustain the training area for continued military use, while preserving its environmental significance. There’s also the potential for other new projects due to increased government spending on infrastructure,” Richard said.
After 12 years away, Richard is glad to be back in Rocky, where he sees a long-future for the FKG Group.
“One of the big things we’re committed to is using local subcontractors and suppliers, which is really important,” he said.
“Being a local myself, I have kids and I want them to be able to stay in the area when they finish school, so our emphasis is on using local subbies and suppliers to encourage both them and the region to grow.”
