Hastings Park Mackay

The FKG Group was engaged to build a specialist workshop facility for Hastings Deering in Mackay to cater for the maintenance of coal mine dump trucks. During construction, contracts for additional facilities were added to the scope. The combined package of works was completed over several stages and comprised of:

• Parts warehouse (4,100m²)
• Administration building (2,500m²)
• Maintenance workshop (2,700m²)
• Utilities building (2,800m²)
• Wash bays (1,400m²) and water recycling facility
• Workshop oil store (400m²)
• Maintenance building (180m²)
• Retail oil store (270m²)

Shortly before the FKG Group was due to perform an extension to a utility building (Building 4), a fire broke out and caused irreparable damage. Running concurrently with another stage, the FKG Group undertook the demolition of Building 4 and its full reconstruction, including the planned extension. The team also constructed a temporary paint and blast booth so that Hastings Deering operations could continue until the facility was rebuilt.

The completed Hastings Industrial Park incorporates state-of-the-art facilities including offices and amenities to service each area, a sandblast and spray paint booth, washdown facilities, a small-scale oil refining unit, a heavy machinery display area, parts warehouse and extensive landscaping.
