The FKG Group’s North Queensland project team were engaged by the Department of Education to complete construction works at the local Pimlico State High School.
With the school focused on providing additional creative learning spaces for students, and offering an exclusive Program of Excellence in Music, the project scope included construction of a music facility featuring specialised acoustic treatments, soundproofing, masonry walls, and timber trussed roofs, as well as sizeable practice rooms and multi-purpose general learning areas.
Additionally, the team completed the demolition, construction of a new music and GLA building along with the extension of the existing Q Block, and landscaping to the surrounding areas with hardy plants suited to the warm North Queensland climate.
Working adjacent to an operational school with more than 1650 students and staff on site, the project team successfully planned and communicated with stakeholders to minimise disruption and mitigate safety concerns while the works were completed.
