With a long history of designing and building educational facilities, the FKG Group was engaged by the Department of Education to construct a new three storey building at Mountain Creek State High School on the Sunshine Coast.
Placing a focus on providing the best possible education facilities, the client’s project scope included the construction of a three storey building encompassing 16 general learning areas, several flexible learning spaces and multiple STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) learning areas, science and robotics laboratories, and a staff space with amenities.
A high quality finish was achieved on the project through the use of architectural features such as aluminium timber batter ceilings, glazed operable walls, perforated ceilings, and Aramax roof sheeting.
The project team also successfully planned work around the existing operational site which included 2,100 students – ensuring safety and minimising disruption.
Furthermore, the project team also suggested changes to the design of the foundation to save the client money and time and the project was completed on time and within budget.
