The FKG Group were appointed by the Queensland Government to undertake exterior refurbishment and rectification works to the Toowoomba Courthouse. The refurbishment works were conducted in the operational facility which was secure but accessible at all times. The FKG Group team maintained significant noise restrictions and exclusion zones on site during business hours considerate of court proceedings which could not be interrupted by the construction.
Refurbishment works included the installation of new front façade along with replacement of areas damaged by water. This work comprised concrete panels at gutter sump areas, stainless steel box gutter and downpipes along with external works. Additional components of the scope incorporated bridging of existing drains, changes to the front entry, adjustments to existing access and the infill of existing drains with concrete.
Ensuring the facility functioned and remained fully operational during construction was vital for project success. Programs were staged during the night, hoarding and exclusion zones were erected and noise monitoring was implemented to reduce interference.
